Privacy Policy

Effective Date: March 3, 2026

Affirm ("we", "our", or "the app") is a personal wellness app that helps you build a daily affirmation practice. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data Affirm collects, how it is used, and your choices.

1. Data We Collect

Affirm collects only the data you provide through normal use of the app:

  • Daily check-in responses — mood, energy, motivation, and self-belief ratings (1-5 scale)
  • Affirmation history — which affirmations you completed and when
  • Streak data — current streak, longest streak, and last completion date
  • Goal preferences — the affirmation categories you selected
  • App settings — unlock duration, check-in frequency, and other preferences
  • Subscription status — whether you have an active subscription and its type

2. Data We Do Not Collect

  • We do not collect your name, email address, or account credentials
  • We do not collect location data
  • We do not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs
  • We do not collect device identifiers for tracking purposes
  • We do not access your contacts, photos, or other personal files

3. Screen Time & Family Controls

Affirm uses Apple's Screen Time APIs (Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity frameworks) to enable app blocking and unlock features. This requires your explicit permission.

  • The app accesses your list of installed apps solely to let you choose which apps to block
  • Your app selection is stored locally on your device and in the app's shared container — it is never sent to any server
  • Apple's Screen Time frameworks process all blocking and monitoring on-device

4. iCloud Sync

If you have iCloud enabled on your device, Affirm uses Apple's CloudKit to sync your data (check-in responses, affirmation history, streaks, and preferences) across your devices. This data is stored in your private iCloud account and is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

5. Subscriptions & Payments

Subscriptions are processed entirely through Apple's App Store using StoreKit. We do not collect, process, or store any payment information. All billing is managed by Apple and subject to their terms and privacy policy.

6. Notifications

Affirm may send local notifications (e.g., goal check-in reminders) and uses Apple Push Notification service (APNs) for iCloud sync. Notification permissions are requested with your consent and can be changed at any time in your device Settings.

7. Data Storage & Security

  • All your data is stored locally on your device using Core Data
  • If iCloud is enabled, data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple's CloudKit infrastructure
  • We do not operate any servers that store your personal data
  • We have no ability to access, read, or retrieve your data

8. Third-Party Services

Affirm does not share your data with any third parties. The only external services involved are Apple platform services (iCloud, StoreKit, Screen Time APIs), all of which are governed by Apple's privacy policies.

9. Children's Privacy

Affirm is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided data through the app, please contact us.

10. Your Choices

  • iCloud sync — You can disable iCloud sync for Affirm in your device's iCloud settings
  • Screen Time permissions — You can revoke Screen Time access at any time in Settings
  • Notifications — You can disable notifications in your device Settings
  • Delete your data — Uninstalling the app removes all local data. To remove iCloud data, go to Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage

11. Changes to This Policy
